LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Network for Enhanced Services (LANES), the leading health information exchange for Los Angeles County, has announced a major Data Participation Agreement with all University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) hospitals, including Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital at UCLA, Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA and UCLA Medical Center. Through this participation, UCLA hospitals will be able to share medical records with all other data participants of this health information exchange.

In addition to the ability to share patient medical records, UCLA’s participation will enable faster treatment, fewer repeated tests, better care coordination, reduced risk of mistakes and greater convenience for both clinicians and patients. According to LANES officials, UCLA is scheduled to begin sharing records in the second quarter of 2019.

“We are eager to collaborate with such a prestigious organization,” says Ali Modaressi, Executive Director of LANES. “LANES and UCLA will work together to identify and implement specific use cases which are intended to demonstrate improved quality of care, reduction in administration efforts, and better patient outcomes.”

This marquee agreement comes on the heels of a surge in growth for LANES, which has seen multiple hospitals, health plans, and clinics join its exchange in recent months.
