HASC and LANES Team Up to Inform L.A. County Hospitals of CMS-Mandated Event Notifications

HASC highlights LANES in July Newsletter to educate and support L.A. County hospitals working to meet the compliance requirements of the mandated CMS Interoperability and Patient Access Final Rule. 

The regulation requires hospitals, psychiatric hospitals, and critical access hospitals to send electronic notifications to patient-identified providers when a patient is admitted, discharged or transferred (ADT). The final rule is required to meet the Medicare and Medicaid Conditions of Participation (CoP). 

LANES enables the transfer of electronic notifications to the patient’s primary care provider (PCP) or care team when patients are either seen in the emergency department or admitted to or discharged from the hospital. Alerts are intended to improve quality of care and reduce patient readmittance.
