California’s largest provider of hospital care for children will exchange health information with LANES in alignment with the state’s Data Exchange Framework
LOS ANGELES, June 13, 2024 — Los Angeles Network for Enhanced Services (LANES), the first and only regional qualified health information organization (QHIO) for the greater Los Angeles area, today announced a new partnership agreement with Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) to help support the hospital’s mission to create hope and build healthier futures.
Through the partnership, CHLA clinicians will be able to access complete, accurate, and detailed patient data promptly and efficiently. CHLA will also be able to issue admission, discharge, and transfer (ADT) notifications. ADT notifications support coordination of care with other patient providers to address patients’ short-term and long-term needs, including both health and social service support. CHLA has already begun the implementation process with LANES.
“Children’s Hospital Los Angeles is a child health leader, achieving discoveries and clinical advances that save lives, and support our communities, especially under-resourced populations,” said Troy McGuire, MD, Chief Health Information Officer at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. “Having access to external information and improving community provider access to our healthcare is the foundation that allows us to reach our ambitious goals and enable our patient providers to continue to deliver world class care to children, teens, young adults and families.”
Hospitals can offer better care when they have more complete information on their patients. LANES enables hospitals to retrieve accurate and detailed patient data promptly and efficiently. Through LANES, hospitals can reduce admissions, coordinate post-discharge care, send real-time ADT notifications, access longitudinal data and California’s CURES prescription drug database, participate in population health management, and realize operational efficiencies.
“We are delighted with the addition of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles to the LANES network,” said LANES CEO Ali Modaressi. “As a premier healthcare institution for children in Los Angeles and beyond, Children’s Hospital plays a crucial role in patient care. Their participation in the LANES network will greatly enhance the health and well-being of children and youth in our communities. “
LANES’ QHIO qualification signifies that by selecting LANES, healthcare organizations are able to meet the data sharing requirements of the state’s Data Exchange Framework (DxF). The DxF defines health data sharing standards for most of the state’s healthcare organizations and is designed to help every resident in the state benefit from seamlessly coordinated care and services, regardless of where they live or receive care.
